Information:
The Ayurveda Sanctuary is located on
the way to Amritapuri, Kollam District, about 6 kilometres from
'Ochira' junction on NH47 Alapuzha-Thiruvananthapuram Highway.
From the North:
By Air and Taxi: Cochin (Kochi)
International Airport at Nedumbassery is situated 135 kilometres
North of the Ayurveda Sanctuary. After deplaning, you may locate
the "Airport Taxi Service" counter and ask for a pre-paid
taxi to Vavvakkavu near Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Amritapuri.
The taxi-ride takes about three hours and costs about Rs. 1,700.
By Train: Kayamkulam is the closest
train station situated 12 kilometres North of the Ayurveda Sanctuary.
After disembarking, you may hire an autorickshaw to bring you
to the Sanctuary, which takes about 20 minutes and costs about
Rs.120. Bus service is also available from Kayamkulam Bus-Stand
to Vavvakkavu Junction, which is about a five-minute walk from
the Ayurveda Sanctuary.
By Bus: From the Ernakulam Transport
Bus-Stand, you may board a bus going towards Trivandrum via
Alappuzha, and alight at Ochira. From Ochira, you may either
hire an autorickshaw directly to Vavvakkavu towards Amritapuri,
which is a 4 km drive from Ochira and costs about Rs. 50.
From the south
By Air and Taxi: The closest
airport is Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) situated 110 kilometers
South of Ayurveda Sanctuary. After deplaning, you may locate
the "Airport Taxi Service" counter and ask for a pre-paid
taxi to Vavvakkavu near Amritapuri. The taxi-ride takes about
three hours and costs about Rs. 1,300.
By Train: Karunagapally is the
closest train station situated 6 kilometres South of the Ayurveda
Sanctuary. After disembarking, you may hire an autorickshaw
to bring you to the Sanctuary, which takes about 10 minutes
and costs about Rs.90. Bus service is also available from Karunagapally.
By Bus: From the Trivandrum Transport
Bus-Stand, you may board a bus going towards Ernakulam via Kollam
and alight at Karunagappally. From Karunagappally, you may board
a bus going to Vavvakkavu Junction, which is about a five-minute
walk from the Ayurveda Sanctuary.
